SCREAM TUNNEL | dystopian & sensory

This immersive experience intends to dramatize the stress culture that prevails at Carnegie Mellon University using one of the most storied spaces on campus: the steam tunnels.

The prompt of this project was to create a sensory experience on Carnegie Mellon Campus. We teamed up as four to further develop our previous idea of a secret communication tool during WWII. We based our project on a Dystopian world where students are meant to suffer from stress. I act as the producer, film editor, and leader in the team.

NARRATIVE

Undoubtedly Andrew Carnegie's most famous quote, "my heart is in the work" provides justification for the hardworking individuals who enroll at the university to become enslaved by their work, so our project simulates a dystopian experience, organized by current students, for prospective students through a series of levels situated in the steam tunnels. After receiving a map and following students to a simulated party at the entry point of the steam tunnels (the mechanical room), prospective students would begin socializing with holographic people before being offered a wristband. When the prospective students assumingly fasten the wristbands onto themselves, each will be forced through the following levels as their heart rates being analyzed.
